Poor theatre actor Louis lives with his girlfriend and his daughter by another woman; their lives are complicated but they are happy. When his girlfriend cheats on him and walks out he feels he simply cannot go on and tries to end it all. Can he be saved by his love for the theatre?
Philippe Garrel’s intimately spare but poetically flush dramas always feel like a secret you’ve been let in on. Once again involving his family—in this case, actor-director son Louis, this film is a delicate, soulful exploration of the challenges of that most complicated of emotions: love.
