In 1939 production began on Veit Harlan’s “Jud Süß”, from the novel by Lion Feuchtwanger, probably the most dangerous propaganda film of the Nazi era. The role of Suss Oppenheimer became a nightmare for actor Ferdinand Marian. The first version “Jud Süß” (1934) starred Conrad Veidt.
