This experimental short explores the relationship between the staging of sporting rituals and militaristic aesthetics. With its sumptuous black and white imagery undercut by an eerie, atonal soundtrack, Kokutai turns a Japanese high school baseball tournament into a tactile and theatrical spectacle.
