Synopsis

An old man on his death bed takes a promise from his eldest son that he would look after his mother and siblings. Trouble starts when the younger brothers get their wives.

Our take

A remake of the Bengali film Banga Kora, Kuladeivam offers a peek into the joint family structures and reform movements of early-20th-century India. Directed by the immensely successful duo, Krishnan–Panju, this ’50s classic advocated for the social changes that allowed Hindu widows to remarry.
