Lampie is the eleven-year-old lighthouse keeper’s daughter. One stormy night, when it turns out the matches are finished, a ship is wrecked and father and daughter are separated. In disgrace, Lampie is sent to work as a maid at the Black House, where a monster lurks in the tower.
