Synopsis

In the 60 years that Jane Bown photographed for the Observer newspaper, she became renowned for insightful portraits of the famous–Queen Elizabeth, Samuel Beckett, the Beatles. Diminutive in stature and with an ability to blend in, she was the antithesis of the Fleet Street, macho photojournalist.
