The action takes place on the Belarusian lands in the 1860s, after the brutal suppression of the uprising of Konstantin Kalinovsky in 1863-1864. The script is based on the short story “Lokis” by Prosper Merime about a werewolf bear and the motives of old Belarusian legends.
