Frenchman Count Hardup advertises for a wife, asking interested parties to ‘meet me at the fountain’. A number of women arrive, but when they become too insistent, he runs away, and is chased by them. He’s caught by an old maid, who is actually a man dressed as a woman. They kiss and the film ends.
