Nishi, too wimpy to try to save his childhood sweetheart from gangsters, is fatally shot in the butt by a soccer-playing psychopath. In this limbo, God tells him to walk toward the light, but Nishi runs like hell in the other direction and returns to Earth a changed man.
With a superabundance of assorted animation styles, bawdy humor and extreme violence, Mind Game is a dizzying ride for adults only. That the filmmaker guest directed Adventure Time comes as no surprise: this frenetic cult classic similarly hurtles toward questions of epic, metaphysical proportions.
