Beautiful, interesting, incredible cinema.
Nelu, a man in his forties, works as a security guard at the local supermarket in Salonta, a small town on the Romanian-Hungarian border. Every day is the same for him, until the day he “fishes” something different from the river: a Turkish man trying to cross the border. Nelu agrees to help him.
The feature debut from Romanian auteur Marian Crișan is a gently observed satire on present-day prejudice, which examines how friendship can help bridge our cultural differences. At once a dashing buddy drama and a fish-out-of-water tale, Morgen won four awards at Locarno in 2010.
