Our take
Elegantly balancing humor and melodrama for a tale of marital discrimination, the Indian Film Board’s Best Tamil Film of 1963 stars R. Vijaykumari as the illiterate who proves her moral fiber, stealing the film with a heartrending musical number addressed to the similarly dark-skinned god, Krishna.
