Our take

When Penélope Cruz starred in Vanilla Sky, few knew that she had already appeared in its original version, Alejandro Amenábar’s remarkable Open Your Eyes. Echoing a labyrinthine plot that oscillates between reality and fantasy, Cruz’s bewitching presence conjures the unreal pleasure of dreaming.
