Our take

After making a name for Incendies, Quebeçois director Denis Villeneuve tackled his first English-speaking project with this suspenseful, multi-layered crime hit. Aided by a chilling score from late Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, Prisoners masterfully dissects the layers of family grief.
