Our take

Based on Rabiye Kurnaz’s real-life story, Andreas Dresen’s Berlinale-winning political satire introduces German-Turkish comedienne Meltem Kaptan as an international star. With its tension and gallows humor, this post-9/11 narrative turns a controversial incident into a rich character comedy.
