Brothers Gummi and Kiddi are sheep farmers living on neighbouring farms in Iceland. They haven’t spoken to each other for 40 years. Following an outbreak of a potentially lethal disease for sheep, the government insist they have to be slaughtered. The brothers must reunite to save their way of life.
This winner of the Un Certain Regard competition in Cannes is a perfect example of Nordic deadpan, highlighted by the stark and vast landscapes of rural Iceland. A tale of brotherly rivalry that combines dry humor, intense emotions and crescendo intrigue, supported by two remarkable performances.
