Our take

Cate Blanchett’s German accent makes a riotous return in this gleefully surreal political satire, codirected by Canadian iconoclast Guy Maddin. Derailing bureaucratic drivel with supernatural phenomena and erotic hijinks, Rumours brings a blow torch to the absurdity of diplomatic proceedings.
