Set in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, Summer journeys through the warm middle-Ural summer with eight-year-old Vadim and his half-sister Christina. They enjoy evening festivities with their older teenage friends by the fire, go on mellow skateboard rides, and have a quiet daytime nap in the garden house.
Vadim Kostrov journeys back into the aimlessness of childhood with his summery portrait of the city of Nizhny Tagil. Bringing in light where his film Winter sought dark, Kostrov’s video camera once again searches for the innocent and unguarded gestures of youth, couched in a poetic sensibility.
