Hélène Chalmers, daughter of a boss of a big American press group, arrives in Rome. Ed Dawson, head of the Italian agency, is in charge of welcoming her. Shortly after her arrival, Hélène disappears. Her father asks Ed to find her. While looking for Hélène Ed finds himself tangled in a dark affair.
