In 1992, in a dying Vlach community in eastern Serbia, a young woman was married to her dead fiancé in a pagan “black wedding.” His mother, Mila, believed that only such a ritual could restore order – and perhaps bring her son back to life. She filmed the whole process, hoping for his resurrection.
