Demsala Nan (The Bread Season) unfolds in today’s Amed (Diyarbakir), eastern Turkey. A working-class Kurdish family—Mahmoud, Fatma, and their son Azad—struggles to survive economic hardship as pressure, hostility, and unspoken dreams fracture their home.
