Synopsis

In a small town in Anatolia, in the middle of the night, a young couple, Emre and Nazlı, are looking for a room to make love. They are rejected from the hotels because they do not have a marriage certificate. While they think they have found a trick, the situation quickly gets out of hand.

Our take

A Jury Prize-winner at Sundance, Serhat Karaaslan’s nocturnal tale of two young lovers shows that intimacy is not a private matter in a sex-obsessed society. In this engrossing short, Karaaslan’s signature tone is both sardonic and sincere, resulting in an acute portrait of conservative hypocrisy.
