After three years of marriage Jerry learns that her husband Ted has been unfaithful, and when he is away she responds in kind and admits it to Ted upon his return. They both decide to divorce, and the inwardly unhappy, popular Jerry then lives a party life while Ted sinks into a life of alcoholism.
