Our take

Werner Herzog won the Grand Prix at Cannes for this comic, wondrous adventure from life-long isolation out into the world, starring Berlin street musician Bruno S. in the lead role. In German, the title is Every Man for Himself and God Against All—it doesn’t get much more Herzogian than this!
