Southern statesman Philip Morrow is persuaded by politician and whiskey producer Cliff Noyes to run for governor. After winning the election, the Morrows decide to sign a deal that would ruin Noyes’ Whiskey business. To prevent this, Noyes threatens to reveal that Morrows is of black descent.
