A young student, Tanya, from a working-class neighborhood, falls in love with an intelligent teacher, Seryozha, who dreams of leaving for Moscow from the dullness of a provincial city. Seryozha realizes only too late what kind of girl is in front of him, and that his dreams are not to come true.
