To flee the Vietnam War, Tran and his fellow musicians swim across the Mekong River in the hope of finding a land of welcome. But once in Thailand, they are sent separately to all corners of Europe. Tran then finds himself in Paris where he meets Li, a young Chinese girl he falls madly in love with.
