George A. Romero may be synonymous with horror, but he did occasionally step outside his preferred genre. Made after Night of the Living Dead, There’s Always Vanilla is an offbeat romantic comedy charged with countercultural zeal and a distinct empathy for the doldrums of middle-class American life.
