In the busy megalopolis of Mumbai, a little girl named Kali is taken from her father’s car. Her father, a struggling actor, tries to track Kali down. But shortly the girl’s stepfather, a police chief, joins him on the search. Soon, the rival fathers begin to accuse each other of kidnapping Kali.
Premiering at Cannes, Anurag Kashyap’s cynical thriller delves into the dark crevices of the human mind to drive home his point about humanity’s inherent depravity. Nikos Andritsakis’ excellent camerawork adds a gritty dimension to the group portrait of its dysfunctional characters.
