Our take

Winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 1995, Emir Kusturica’s expansive masterpiece tends to the bleeding wounds of Eastern European history with a shot of satirical absurdism. Controversial yet vitally political, this profound parable on opportunism, betrayal, and the fragility of ideology endures.
