After becoming an eyewitness to a murder, Frank goes into hiding. He is scared of testifying against the killer, as this could bring down a crime kingpin. Meanwhile, his wife Eleanor, the cops and a roughish reporter go on a wild chase around San Francisco to find him before the real murderers do.
This restored gem offers something on the lighter side of noir. Starring the great, wise-cracking Ann Sheridan, this film from 1950 is several things at once: a punchy chase movie, a sassy comedy of remarriage, and a loving, shot-on-location document of the gritty streets of San Francisco.
