Our take

Bela Lugosi might be cinema’s most famous vampire, yet he also starred in zombie films! This underseen 1932 horror classic is often claimed as the first of the subgenre, set in its context of origin: slavery in Haiti. An independent, low-budget production which nevertheless exudes poetry and menace.
