As they are being released from prison, a young woman and a young man, both musicians, decide to assemble a band. They meet with other underground musicians in Tehran and try to convince them to leave Iran, while attempting to get passports and money to go to Europe.
Documenting the underground music scene in Tehran, No One Knows about Persian Cats is an exhilarating, and often funny celebration of culture and critique of its censorship. After premiering at Cannes, it became a rare festival circuit success and crossover hit.
