Our take
Two poignant performances capture the sacrifices, compromises, and sharp maneuvers artists must often make in this riveting Golden Bear winner. With Berlin and Hamburg standing in for Turkey, İlker Çatak’s soul-stirring film circumvents real-world censorship to stage an ambitious political drama.
