Beautiful, interesting, incredible cinema.
Substitute teacher Henry never stays long enough in a place to bond with anyone. Troubled and lost, he lands at a public school where the staff is frustrated and burned-out. Inadvertently, Henry becomes a role model to his disaffected students and bonds with a teenager who is just as lost as he is.
Tony Kaye (American History X) brings his gritty brand of realism to this acute story of a devoted teacher working within a flawed education system as he deals with his own trauma. Penned by a former teacher, the film’s astounding ensemble cast is led by an always brilliant Adrien Brody.
