Our take

Austro-Hungarian émigré Otto Preminger’s movies dissect American society with surgical precision. This stands as his great masterpiece: a groundbreaking, enthralling, gold standard courtroom drama revealing cracks in the very notion of justice. Starring James Stewart, with music by Duke Ellington.
