Our take

A Parisian bastion of high-kicking raunch and sozzled debauchery, the Moulin Rouge has proved a popular haunt for cinema’s romantic imagination. This zesty, Silver Lion-winning biopic of Toulouse-Lautrec is directed by the great John Huston, lending a simpatico ear to the artist’s libertine legacy.
