The farmers and their families suffer from famine after a bad year. When a severe drought hits the town again, Dok Eun-gi asks his friend Kim Han, who is the landlord, to give back a few stacks of rice he had paid for rent. However, Dok Eun-gi turns away in despair when Kim Han refuses him coldly.
