Critics reviews

A Tale of Two Cities has nothing to do with Christmas, but the 1935 film of it does end with a grand instrumental rendition of “O Come All Ye Faithful.” It accompanies the final Crucible-like, noble sacrifice of alcoholic lawyer Sydney Carton, here played by soulful Ronald Colman, for the aristocratic Charles Darnay.
