Synopsis

A woman living in a fictionalized New York City, who, after being granted a wish by a strange visitor, asks for love and learns of a creature who might provide it.

Our take

In a gender-twisting adaptation of a Korean folktale, Lee Isaac Chung crafts a lo-fi science-fiction film that is singularly sensitive to the desires of an older woman. Love arrives out of some serendipitous nowhere for the eponymous character, played by Amanda Plummer with breathtaking sincerity.
