Gut gemacht, ein bisschen ärmlich die Szenografie und ein paar Fragen an die Egos der Charaktere, geht aber runter wie Öl. #orgiastisch Ansonsten, niemand strengt sich an, niemand ist leer und miserabel (ausser Paul?) keiner muss verkaufen, kein Kommerz, wir sind ohne Glanz aber mit Würde und spontan. Wir leiden mit eingezogen Beinen auf der Couch und machen Geständnisse durch Glastüren und Unisäle.

A lovely film about the deep unknowability that draws us together and separates us - even those we think we are closest to. Really reminded me of "Under the Sand" (Sous le Sable) by Francois Ozon, but in a complementary and not a derivative way.

Beginnt sehr intensiv, schlägt aber nach etwa 40 Minuten dramaturgisch die falsche Richtung ein, baut so bis zum unverständlichen Ende stark ab. Sandra Hüller legt eine sehr gute Schauspielarbeit hin.

Statt aus Pauls plötzlichem Verschwinden einen Enthüllungsplot zu entwickeln, stellt der Film vielmehr die Frage, wie gut wir unser Gegenüber kennen wollen und müssen, wie sehr dieses nicht immer auch eine Projektion eigener Vorstellungen bleibt. Tiefsinnig, durchaus auch witzig, vor allem: sehr nah am Leben!

Klare, überlegte und reduzierte Bildsprache und -komposition. Die Story ist vielschichtig, die Figuren changieren, was diesen Film zu einem guten macht. Und Sandra Hüller ist, wie immer, eine Wucht. / Clear, well-thought-out and diminished picture language and picture composition. The story is multi-layered, the figures complex what makes this film a good one. And Sandra Hüller is, as usual, brilliant .

Jan schomburgs "über uns das all" is one of the few great films to come out of Germany in the last years. Filmed on a low budget with a star turning performance from Sandra Hüller, the film deals with the unknown future and the depression that can rise from it. I really love it's title which translates to "above us, the universe". There a things that we don't know and questions that will never be answered.
