Acts of the Apostles Directed by Roberto Rossellini

What are people saying?

  • William's rating of the film Acts of the Apostles

Rossellini's wonderfully faithful adaptation of the Book of Acts minimizes the miraculous, instead emphasizing the ideas and controversies of the early church; primarily the many frictions between Jewish believers and Gentile converts to the faith. Like most of Rossellini's late 'educational' films, the words of the texts are given new life through the realistic and unadorned representations of period detail.
