Michael Cuesta, as Richard Kelly as Rian Johnson were members of a generation that seemed to be headed into delivering great cinematic things. The mainstream swallowed them all. Rian is doing Star Wars, Kelly fell off the map. Cuesta is doing "B-movies" for the studios. Where are his 'L.I.E.' and '12 and holding' years...? Wilder said to Almodóvar - 'never come to Hollywood, they'll eat you alive here' - he was right
I have to say that, based on the trailer, I was expecting a bit more out of this movie. While Dylan O'Brien is pretty badass (and nice to look at for 1hr50m), the whole thing is a tad kitschy (not Taylor) and predictable. I did enjoy the relentlessness of O'Brien's character, and Keaton's character teaches him some tough but important lessons. This all said, it's what you might expect from a 2010s action picture.
