Fantasia '14 Bustillo and Maury set the bar high when they made their first feature "Inside" and this throwback fails to live up to that debut. A mix of 'Goonies'/'Explorers' and eighties horror slashers that though entertaining offers nothing really special or unique. Some good shocks here and there but the seasoned gore hound will find it derivative and disappointing.
Among the Living-- a horror version of Stand By Me-- is better in idea than its execution. Like the French duo's Livid it's not well paced, yet unlike that 2nd film and certainly not like their searing debut, Inside, it's not as well orchestrated. Inside was lightning in a bottle, yet they haven't come close in their last 2 films in tension or horror. Perhaps, with more projects someday they will recapture it.
Terribly boring and tedious movie about three kids who come across a psycho family. This movie shows that Bustillo & Maury's "Inside" always will be their greatest achievement. This is so far away from that movie I can't believe it's made by the same people. Shame!!!
