Would-be writer Laura and her free-spirited bestie Tyler share a messy Dublin apartment and a hearty appetite for booze. Yet when Laura decides to focus on her novel and falls for Jim, a charming but straitlaced pianist, their friendship is strained and Tyler worries that the party may soon be over.

The spirit of Fleabag pervades this booze-fueled comedy about the transition of a friendship from youth to adulthood. Led by wonderfully complementary performances by Alia Shawkat and Holliday Grainger, Animals offers a portrait of millennial womanhood that is equally melancholy and funny.
