  • dionysus67's rating of the film Arms and the Man

A borderline "3" this one mainly due to its handsome looks, which have to do mostly with the care put in the costumes, the set design and some painterly-like frames, mostly in the scant exterior shots. Another asset is its quasi-Bergmanesque theme of making a fool of romantic love and of war heroism. Its flaws lie with the monolithic direction and with some of the not so successful jokes. Flawed but quite enjoyable.
