What are people saying?

  • Mtume Gant's rating of the film Ashes and Embers

A Dream like (or Nightmare?) poetic piece of cinema that would make Tarkovsky proud. Best film ever made about the horrors of postwar dissolution of the Vietnam veteran, makes Stones Born on the 4th of July seem like a kids experiment. Gerima made a masterpiece of American Cinema here, weaving in also the social, political and soulful voice of the Black experience...which is truly the essence of our existence here.
