A rote style of documentary by Milburn and Lowenstein about one of the most Über-romantic and talented late 20th century musicians, Rowland S. Howard. If only the filmmakers had stretched their own talents the doc may have become something more fitting, but alas we're offered highlight clips, interviews and narration fed as if to fans in detox. Though of course it should be seen, it is Rowland S. Howard after all.
Entirely fascinating documentary profiling the late Rowland S. Howard, a dapper romantic with alien good looks and a terrifying guitar sound. The parade of talking heads is quite impressive (Nick Cave, Kevin Shields, Wim Wenders, Thurston Moore, Jonnine Standish, et al.) and the career spanning live footage and interviews stand as an appropriate testimonial to this underrated, yet highly influential artist.
