Autonomy is a 5 minute film which consists of a series of performative actions, within a secluded environment. The work raises questions about feelings of entrapment and confinement, and suggests a strive for freedom and a sense of escapism.

There is a sort of aesthetic quality that I quite like about the peice, but overall I think this notion of autonomy and escapism isn't explored particularly well. As modern art it is adequate, as it fulfills certain trends within the art world ie its ironic, and even hip. Needless to say, it's the sort of thing that I wouldn't pay much attention to in an art gallery.
Call me simple and unpretentious but I don't consider this a film so much as I consider it a video of a fat girl doing strange things under a table. If I wanted to see that, I could just bring a mirror into my dining room.
