Six lost souls live in a repulsive housing development from the Soviet era. This indifferent world is steadily advancing towards winter, demonstrating the possibility for laughter even where hope has long since become a sparse commodity.
Estonian director Veiko Õunpuu’s spicy debut, which premiered at Venice, was adapted from a novel by Mati Unt. Replete with cinematic references and the twisted touch of Bergman, the film approaches human relationships with a dark and deliciously cynical sense of humor. Keep an eye out for Õunpuu.
