2 1/2 out of 5 stars. A young Jane Fonda is easily one of my favorite things in the world but not even that vision of foxiness could get me through this. Redford was surprisingly funny but Barefoot in the Park was too spazzy for me. Not awful, but maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it. Its kind of lackluster when you consider what else came out that year.
I feel like this movie was set up for me to like it: written by Neil Simon and starring young and gorgeous Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. However, this movie didn't work for me as I felt something was missing all along and I didn't care for the story and characters. I also found Fonda (who I really like) quite annoying and obvious. On the flipside, I really liked the performances of Mildred Natwick and Charles Boyer.
